Shown here is a one-of-a-kind hand-inked, hand-painted Color Model used to create a limited-edition sericel from the Disney film Hercules. The artwork, entitled "Olympian Family" shows the gods Zeus and Hera with their baby Hercules and his pal Pegasus. Included is a stylish black and white background and a black mat cut in the shape of a Grecian urn. A very intricately designed and lovely piece of animation art! The color model is an essential part of any sericel edition as it defines the number of colors, layout and design of the finished piece. Disney Ink & Paint artists at the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, California create these models using color keys and clean-up drawings, in order to accurately represent the animated characters and their setting. The models are then reviewed and approved before being used as the master for the sericel edition. As only two or three models are created for most sericel editions, one of which is archived with the publisher, these are very rare parts of the labor-intensive process that goes into each and every Walt Disney Animation Art sericel."
