Description: Here is an incredible set of 6 Hepplewhite shield back dinning chairs in the Prince of Whales feather design. Now speaking of design – this is an amazing thing here. They were made in the early 1900’s. The dinning chairs are mahogany and then at some point in there life these chairs were professionally decorated in the most classical Adams style with bellflowers going down the legs and across the front skirt. The chairs are in a kind of a dirty robin’s egg blue and a buff color. They look like they are a million years old – they really really do. They are truly stunning! They have slip seats which are upholstered in a very muted pale pale blue and buff color with little ribbons of yellow. Somebody really really did these so perfectly. There is a lot of distressing to the chairs to make them look a million years old. The prince of Whales feather in the central back of each chair is still in a dark brown rich mahogany color which gives a fabulous contrast with the buffs and the blues and there are slight shades of soft turquoise and yellows – just magnificent. The chairs are very sturdy. There has been some minor repair to one or two of the chairs. Once again they are dinning chairs, there are six of them, and they are in very very good shape. They were made in the early 1900’s and they were made to look like they are a million years old. These chairs would be outstanding for French décor – they could be just as formal as can be or look just as country as you need them to be. Truly stunning – and I have to stop here because I think I’m just rambling now. To-die-for Chairs! They came from a very fine estate in Portland, Maine. They measure 39” at highest x 18” at widest x 17 ¾” at deepest and it is 18 ½” to the top of the seat. Please browse our entire shop for a broad range of fine antiques featuring period furniture, lighting, porcelain, silver, glass, art, books, clocks and decorative arts. Striving For Excellence It isn’t brilliance or just getting the breaks, It is consistent attention to & honest respect for the Customer. Blue Dolphin Antiques
