Description: Heavily Carved Victorian Rosewood Gents Chair with a great open pierced carved crest. The incredible crest on this chair has life size leaves and flowers that go all across the back with center scrolling and roses (see photos). The finish is original, old, and slightly flaking. The upholstery is very old and stained. The open arms are gracefully shaped with deep finger carvings and there are flowers on the apron base. Rosewood is a very difficult and dense wood to carve, so this chair was made by a very skilled and experienced Victorian craftsman.
