Description:
This is such a great piece....Hazel Atlas Moderntone Platonite Deco Red Open Sugar....as stylish 60+ years ago as it is today.
This is a glass piece from Hazel Atlas with fired-on red color to accent the lines and rings of this glass pattern. Finding pieces with the multiple red rings is very difficult; they are very rare.
During the 1940's, Hazel Atlas used the Moderntone molds to produce a platonite line of dinnerware. Platonite is an opaque white glass that Hazel Atlas had been using in their kitchenware since the early 1930's. The earliest platonite pieces show opalescence under a strong light. Newer pieces are fully opaque. This piece has the opalescent white glass which indicates that it is an earlier piece. So circa 1930s/1940s.
Dimensions: 3 1/16" tall x 3 3/4" diameter. Measures 5" wide at handles and 2 3/16" diameter at base.
This one is in excellent shape with no breaks, crack, chips or flea bites. Fired on color is also in very good condition.
