Description: Oil on canvas laid down to wood backing panel, framed in elaborate gilt wood frame. Signed lower left: "Tony Haller" (Pseudonym for Hans Sterbik). Estimate 2,000 - 2,800 Euro (1,752 - 2,453 US$); Sold For 1,300 Euro (1,136 US$). Dimensions: Panel: 24 x 20in. Frame: 31 x 27 1/2in. Weight: 9lbs. 4oz. Condition: Canvas laid down to wood panel. Surface of the work is slightly dirty. Wear and frame abrasion to canvas along all four edges, most significant along upper edge with noticeable small areas of staining. Wear to surface paint throughout, including minor nicks to paint. Canvas appears to be quite thin in areas, which most likely was the need for backing restoration. The signature has slightly faded. A few small areas of inpainting visible when examined under u.v. light, mainly along upper right edge. Otherwise, good condition overall. Artist's Biography:
