Description: Abanaki sweetgrass and oak or ash splint uniquely shaped two-handled yarn basket. Likely made in Maine by Penobscot Indians. The many vibrantly colored rings of sweetgrass and splint that make up this basket are in excellent condition. Although perfectly suited for dispensing yarn through the opening in the lid, this piece appears never to have been used. Rare find.
