Hamilton was the best watch made in America bar none, and in
1935 you couldn't buy a nicer Hamilton than the "Rutledge"! It
was immediately a scarce watch just because it was made
entirely of Platinum. Because Hamilton didn't make a lot of
Platinum watches it makes the condition of this one exceptional.
It is the opinion of our master watchmaker that this elegant
timepiece was worn only on very special ocassions. When you
really want to tell the condition of a watch and how it was
treated over the years - look at the back. The back of the case
and the lugs on this watch tell a story of love and respect as it is
in near mint condition! When you open the case, measuring
36mm lug to lug by 21mm wide, you realize that it has a nice
tight fit and has never been abused. Looking inside at the
movement you can tell that Hamilton was at their engineering
peak when they made this mechanical marvel. It just gleams with
the reflection of the light coming off of the damasceed plates
accented by the 19 ruby jewels on this caliber 982 movement.
Our master watchmaker has it running like the day it came from
the factory so that it can be a fine timepiece for a generation to
come. Peering inside the case back we can tell by the
watchmakers marks that the watch was regularly cleaned and
oiled over the years even though it was not worn very much.
This is another great sign that it was lovingly cared for.
