Description:
This is a very early, three part case, Hamilton wristwatch that is
in excellent condition. This particular watch was marketed in
1931. Notice that the case size is slightly larger than average
while the case sides curve in a tonneau fashion. The movement
is a beautifully crafted, round, 17 jewel model. This was at a
time when all that was avaible were round movements so, in
order to change the case configuration, and to produce a more
interesting watch, Hamilton had to enlarge the case to contain
the round movement without imitating it's shape. The case is
yellow gold filled and measures 28mm wide by 39mm in length.
Notice how handsome this watch is. Hamilton designers carefully
added an engraved case middle, and engraved lugs, that really
set this piece off. Now take a look at the spectacular dial and
hands. The dial background is beautifully silvered and provides
an easy-to-read face for the wearer against the luminous filled
skeletonized hands. The large seconds bit shape at the 6 o'clock
position mimics the overall case shape to complete the look.
Finally the movement is a real work of art. This is Hamilton's
987f a fantastic workhorse of a movement that will be in your
family for generations to come. Our master watchmakers have it
purring along, keeping very accurate time, and looking
spectacular. Early Hamilton's are getting harder to find with each
passing year so if this one appeals to you grab it. It's the only
one of these we've had in the last five years. Remember you can
buy with confidence due to our famous one year warranty for
parts and labor.
