Description:
Fantastic quality solid quartered oak curio cabinet
made by
Hale and Kilburn Mfg Co, Philadelphia (metal label on back). This
cabinet
has a fancy gallery on top with brass spindles holding up the oak
railing.
The ends of the gallery have turned finials and returns. The cabinet
has
thick beveled glass on the sides and front and a full mirrored back. There
are three
thick solid oak shelves with a plate groove in the back of each. There is a dark stain on the very top of the cabinet and
someone, at one point, added metal strips to the back of the rear
legs for
extra support (see photo). There is a key for the door which does
not work
the lock but can be used to open and close the cabinet. The whole
cabinet
exhibits the superior quality that Hale and Kilburn was noted for!
