Description: The painting is 23"x15-1/4" and is circa 1970. It is in its original artist frame. About the Artist: Claude Dambreville was born in Port-au-Prince on December 17,1934. Claude Dambreville studied drawing and painting at the School ABC in Paris, at the Art Center, and with his father in-law, the late haitian artist Pétion Savain. He is renowned for using flat colors, "strong light and deep shadows" particularly to depict his favorite subject - women of the markets. Dambreville's paintings have an esthetic value that immediately catches the eye of the viewer. Dambreville is a well-known haitian painter around the world. He was sponsored by President and Mrs. Mitterand in shows in Paris and in Nime in 1991. His collectors include, aside from the Mitterands, Pierre Cardin and Denzel Washington.
