Description: György Vastagh 1834-1922; The father of the painter, Géza Vastagh and the sculptor, György Vastagh. Following his studies in Vienna and Budapest he lived in Kolozsvár (Cluj Napoca, Romania) and then in Vienna and Budapest. He painted mainly portraits (The Archduke Josef, The Archduchess Clotild. Portrait of the Governor of Hungary during the 1848-49 Revolution. The Hungarian statesman and orator Louis, or Lajos, Kossuth (1802-1894) was the foremost leader of the Hungarian Revolution of 1848-1849 and the symbol of Magyar nationalism.
