Description: GRUEN PRECISION AUTOWIND HAMMER or BUMPER EARLY AUTOMATIC BUBBLE BACK CASE 32mm Circa; 1940. Rare early mid-size automatic. This small size was the norm in the late 1930s and only became larger in the late 1940s and 50s. This model was first introduced in 1936 and was the first generation of automatic winding mechanisms. This rare example also features an original dial and hands. Especially collectible with the original Swiss spring linked deployment stainless bracelet. Clean, running and accurate. THIS IS A FINE COLLECTIBLE. DON'T INVEST IN THE STOCK MARKET. BUY SOMETHING PROVEN IN TIME.

DIAL: Original two-tone beige colored dial with a tapestry pattern and teardrop and Arabic figure alternating. Signed: "GRUEN/ PRECISION", and "AUTOWIND". Excellent condition with full color.

MOVEMENT: Nickel 3/4 plate, pendent set, signed: "GRUEN WATCH Co. PRECISION/ Seventeen (17) Jewels", and "AUTOWIND VERI-THIN", #1M93929. #46255" in banner. Excellent condition, free of distraction.

CASE: Screw back all steel marked: "GRUEN WATCH Co. SWISS/ GUILDITE" inside back. Back marked: Automatic Water and Shock Resistant" on back ring. Excellent and bubble back or domed back shape. ORiginal case.
