Description:
This Griswold #6 cast iron skillet is in very good + condition on the cooking surface but the bottom has some build up and needs to be cleaned. The bottom is marked: Cast Iron Skillet / Griswold / 6 / Erie PA.USA, the numbers under USA are unreadable. The #6 also appears on the handle but it has no heat ring. Matthew Griswold and John and Samual Selden founded Griswold Manufacturing in the mid 1860's. Originally Selden and Griswold Manufacturing Company, Griswold bought out the Selden family interests in 1884. The companys plant was located at the corner of 12th. and Rasberry Street in Erie, Pa. Cast iron products included bread molds, Ditch ovens, kettles, muffin pans, roasters, skillets, waffle irons, and more. Griswold changed hands several times during the 20th century. Wagner Manufacturing purchased Griswold in 1957. In 1969, General Housewares aquired all rights to Griswold and Wagner. An addition to any Cast iron Cookware Collection.
