Description:
A very good example of Long Horns Chair attributed to William Mittman, San Antonio Texas, circa 1885. The chair has unusual carving in the aesthetic style on the horns with original gold incising. Measurements are: 36 inches tall x 36 inches wide x 36 inches deep, 26 horns. The chair is in pristine condition and his upholstered in faux fur. . THE CHAIR WAS ON LOAN AT THE PANHANDLE-PLAINS HISTORICAL MUSEUM IN CANYON, TEXAS FOR THE EXIBIT CALLED: SHARP HORNS, SOFT SEATS: THE ART OF HORNED FURNITURE NOVEMBER 12, 2005 TO AUGUST 2006. The exhibit included furniture made from longhorns as well as the horns of other animals from the museum's own collection as well as borrowed pieces from other museums and private collections.
