Description: Gorgeous Victorian Walnut Renaissance Revival Cylinder Secretary with a beautifully carved grape and leaf carved crest with flowers, burl, incising, and an unusual pediment top. The side stiles have split burled columns with more delicate incised carvings. The doors have an unusual sliding mechanism so they slide back and forth (rather then opening out). The double slotted lovely burled cylinder has the original brass ring pulls and opens to reveal the original interior with two small drawers and a custom burgundy leather with gilt trim pull out writing surface. T are five drawers and one cupboard on the base with all the fine original period case brass pulls and escutcheons. The lock is missing on the door and we have an old key to help open it. The original interior top two shelves are adjustable and t is a small cut out on the very base back plinth of one side (see photo) This pretty secretary is in fine original finish, and has many lovely features, and quality throughout.
