Description:
This is a charming sterling silver baby's bowl or porringer made by Gorham with nursery rhyme decoration. This circular silver porringer has deep, curved sides decorated in panels that depict Mother Hubbard, Three Little Pigs, The Three Bears, Red Riding Hood, and Tom the Baker's Son. Between each scene is a small cartouche with a central bird. The decoration is highly detailed featuring popular characters in distinct scenes. There is also a central vacant cartouche that has not been previously engraved. This porringer has a bracket handle that is decorated with a basket holding a bunny rabbit. This piece in very good condition and is very fine quality and heavy gauge. It measures approx. 1 3/4" high, approx. 4 1/4" in diameter. It is marked under the base with the maker's mark of Gorham, the words Makers, Sterling, and pattern number 5281. This charming baby's porringer would make a special gift for a newborn.
