Description:
Clockmaking historians say that William Gilbert was a demanding taskmaster, insisting on excellence on the part of his employees and clockmaking staff. His clocks were therefore well-made and highly sought-after by customers who wanted better quality timepieces. This clock was named "THE PRINCE" by Gilbert and retains its originality throughout. There are no extra holes around the dial which marks it as original to the case and the eight-day brass movement runs well, keeping excellent time. The silver patterned door glass shows a marsh and pool with a crane and leaves in abundance. NOTE: There is a reflection on our photograph of the door glass. This is the camerman's fault and not a discoloration in the glass. The dial paper has been professionally replaced and correctly includes the GILBERT name. You rarely find lower prices for high quality clocks such as this. It's another in the collection that we recently added to our showroom.
