Description:
Here is an outstanding free blown and engraved glass pitcher signed in an acid stamp on the bottom - T Webb. The Free blown pitcher has a delicate ruffled top and one very incredible applied blown handle, which is very Venetian in style. The exceptionally fine engraving is of a marsh with a long legged bird - possibly an egret - standing in the marsh. On the other side there is a very simple engraved cattail wildflower. The condition is quite excellent having only a few minor blips from the blowing and annealing process - like a bubble here and there. Anyone who knows glass will understand that these little blips are quite common. Blown pontil. It dates from the 1890’s to early 1900's. It measures 9" high with a 5" diameter opening of the top and a 3 3/8" diameter of the base.
