Description: I believe this type of glass is called opaline. Souvenir pipes such as this one were quite popular in the '30's-'40's era. This pipe is a souvenir from Beresford South Dakota. Measures 6 in. long and the bowl of the pipe is 2 in. diameter and is 2.5 in. tall. I find no damage such as chips, nicks, cracks, etc. Slight wear to the handpainted lettering and floral design as the painting was usually done cold painting, that is, it was not fired to make the color permanent so it can wear or wash off. Quite often a pipe such as this was used as a match holder for wood matches.
