Beautifully engraved SPECIMEN certificate from the Giddings & Lewis, Inc. This historic document was printed by the Security-Columbian Banknote in 1979 Company and has an ornate border around it with a vignette of the company logo between an allegorical man and woman. This item has the printed signatures of the Company’s President and Secretary and is over 23 years old. Certificate Vignette On October 31, 1991, Giddings & Lewis completed the acquisition of The Cross & Trecker Corporation. In April 1995, Fadal Engineering -- the largest U.S. manufacturer of vertical machining centers -- joined the Giddings & Lewis family. Founded in 1961, the Fadal division has sold over 20,000 vertical machining centers. In June 1997, Giddings & Lewis merged with Thyssen AG of Düsseldorf, Germany, operating within the Thyssen Production Systems group. Thyssen Production Systems develops, manufactures and services metal cutting machines, automated assembly and automotive body shop systems. As the world's largest machine tool manufacturer, based on sales, Thyssen Production Systems employs over 8,000 persons and operates production facilities in Germany, France, England, Hungary, Korea, China, India, Mexico, the United States and Brazil. Effective October 1, 1998, Giddings & Lewis' parent company, Thyssen AG merged with Fried. Krupp AG Hoesch-Krupp, an Essen, Germany-based industrial group. The new conglomerate Thyssen Krupp AG, headquartered in Düsseldorf, Germany, has a joint workforce of approximately 170,000 persons and operates over 700 locations around the world. Business activities are divided into five business segments: steel, automotive, industries, engineering and materials and services. Giddings & Lewis is a member company of the industries group, Thyssen Krupp Industries AG.
