Description:
Beautiful Georgian period Breakfast Pembroke Table in the Sheraton style. Circa 1810, English. Excellent antique condition and patina. Great character. Finish seems to be old but is still rich and beautiful from decades of waxing and polishing. Approximately 4.5 inches of the narrow inlaid cross banding and stringing are missing: some from the upper legs where they join the case, some from the edge of the table top. When Open the table top is approximately 40.5.inches wide. This does not detract, rather adds to the patina.
Brasses appear to be original. There are two pulls on the single drawer and two on the fake drawer. All legs have their casters and roll perfectly smoothly. Two wood supports for each leaf fold perfectly back into place when the leaves are dropped. Drawer is handmade with expected handmade dovetails and chamfered drawer bottom. Drawer bottom shows age shrinkage.
Fine, useful and beautiful-to-look-at piece. Bought in Texas at an estate auction.
