Description: This exquisite sterling silver covered compote by renowned Danish Silversmith Georg Jensen has a circular bowl on a high circular foot with a chased band of oval decoration and stylized gadrooned rim. The gently sloping cover has an unusual faceted wooden finial, also with oval decoration, which sits above a beaded border. Representative of Jensen's timeless modern design its compact size and deep bowl make this dish both stylish and versatile. This piece retains its beautiful hand-hammered finish, and is in overall excellent condition. It is clearly stamped under the base with pattern number 88, the words Sterling, Denmark, and with Jensen's maker's mark. This lovely covered compote stands approx.5 1/2" tall to the top to the finial.
