Description:
Handmade, custom-made Stickley Sofa. This sofa was made in America and is not an import. Sofa is roughly six years old.
Stickley item # 96-9109-84-2.
Approximate dimensions: width 84", depth 37.5", height 36". Inside depth 21". Overall weight is approximately 150+ lbs.
This sofa has seen a good amount of use. The chenille flamestitch fabric is faded and worn in spots, there are some stains (though most are on the decking), and a spring is very slightly ajar on the backside of the sofa, though it doesn't affect the way the sofa sits and it is not a sharp point, just a slight bulge on the backside of the sofa; it does not affect the way the sofa sits.
This spring may be covered under Stickley's lifetime warranty, but ultimately Stickley would have to make that decision. I never filed a claim. Of course, if you decide to re-upholster the sofa, the spring could be fixed at that time.
Several years ago, the seat cushion cores were replaced with high-density professional mattress foam for extra extra firm support. This sofa sits very firm. Repeat VERY VERY FIRM.
The back cushions and throw pillows are original and are down and feather fill and are soft.
But...this is still a STICKLEY sofa and the build quality is second to none. This is also one of the only sofas available today with a spring/soft front edge. This is an expensive and difficult way to build a sofa (but it is the right way) and is normally only found on custom, workroom pieces. The front edge on a soft/spring edge sofa bends to accommodate your legs, specifically the back of your thighs, when one is seated. This adds considerably to the comfort.
Please note: we are dealers for Scalamandre, Brunschwig, Kravet, Schumacher, and all the major fabric houses, and we have our own workroom. Meaning, if the winning bidder so chooses, we can reupholster this piece and make it "like new." Obviously, this would be billed separately from this auction.
