Description:
Wildly ornate and almost garish � this wonderful 19th century chandelier was original gas burning. It is now fitted for electricity. It has incredible casting all over on this chandelier. On each one of the gas arms up towards the central body of the fixture you can see an ornate elephant head � as decoration. The rest of the decoration is on some parts very gothic and on other parts a little rococo � just a wonderful mass of design here. I suspect that this chandelier was made in the centennial era � 1876 or so. It is a combination of brass and Spelter which makes it even more interesting. The shades on this chandelier � which match perfectly and do tremendous justice to the chandelier � are old reproductions. The chandelier measures 36�H and the diameter is approximately 27�.
