Description:
Here we have a real nice Civil War item. It is a ribbon badge made of celluloid and silk. It says the Grand Army of the Republic on the badge part. This is attached to a celluloid ribbon that has black silk overlay. Embossed in silver lettering it says BUFORD Post, No. 243 Rock Island, ILL. Honor the Noble Dead. Perhaps this is a Funeral item? There is a gold wire tassel at the tip. It measures 10 1/2 inches long. The back side has a round yellow sticker that says design Patented Jan 10, 93 TORSCH & LEE Man'f'rs Baltimore MD. The ribbon comes in what I believe is its original box. The box says The M.C.Lilley & Co manufactures of Military & Society Goods Columbus Ohio. This is a real beauty in MINT condition. Even the silk has not frayed. This is coming from the estate of a traveling salesman that collected for many years across the nation.
