Description:
For Sale I have a wonderful Arts and Crafts Vase made by The Fulper Pottery Company of Flemington, NJ.The vase displays a Tapered Shoulder Shape with wonderfully applied Arts and Crafts Buttressed Style Handles rising from the shoulder and attaching to opposite sides of the lip. The Pea Green over Sea Foam Crystalline Glaze is simply wonderful. The Pea Green Glaze seems to be the main color of the Vase and the Lighter Sea Foam Crystalline Glaze is applied of that. The Glaze displays the deeper green at the neck with the Crystalline Glaze covering the rest of the body. There Crystals are scattered around the body with some areas having a higher concentration of crystal than others.
The vase is considered to be in Excellent Condition as there are no cracks, chips or dings. The only issue is some crazing in the Pea Green Glaze and a small clay nick on the bottom ring that appears to be factory. This probably happened when they sanded the bottom smooth. The piece is signed with the Oval Die Stamped Incised Racetrack Fulper Signature mark thus dating it to 1916-1922. This is known as Shape Number 659 in the Fulper Pottery Catalog Pages.
This is an extremely desirable Arts and Crafts Form and an excellent example of this Glaze. The Vase has a similar Shape to some Teco Pottery pieces I have owned in the past. This vase is very Solid and well made. It has good weight to it as well. I have left the 4 felt pads that a previous owner put on it so it would scratch the Glass or Furniture. This vase would just wonderful on that Stickley. Mission Arts and Crafts Style Bookcase or Cabinet. You Fulper Art Pottery Collectors do not let this one slip by you!!
