Description: This is an impressionistic still-life of some fruit (apples, orange and grapes) along with a tea kettle and another container. It is painted in more muted, natural tones, although still uses a variety of colors. It purposely doesn’t attempt realism or perspective, but rather focuses on color use and brush stroke to create different and dynamic textures. The style is reminiscent of the still lifes of Cezanne, as it doesn’t attempt much perspective, but rather focuses on impressions of the fruit. Initials and date are located in the lower right corner, reading “V.B. 1962”. The painting is framed in an aged wormwood frame that complements the natural tones and textures of the painting. The interior of the frame is emphasized by a whitewash. The size of the piece, including the frame, is 18.75x 21.75 inches.
