An Antique French Porcelain Polychromed, Gilt Decorated, 2 Handled Urn with Floral Relief - Unsigned – Good Condition – Circa 1900 - Restoration to Ram’s Ear and One Handle, Leaf Tips Missing in Areas – Small Hairline Crack to Interior Side of Bowl – all normal for its age.
This stunning French porcelain urn has all the attributes of Louis XVI. The deep blue ground has bas relief and gilt ornamentation. There are flowers, garlands of laurel leaves, rams’ heads, ribbons and bows, and oval scenic panels on either side. One side depicts a young man and two young ladies fishing on a riverbank with trees and foliage in the background. The other side is a pastoral scene of rams in a pasture with trees and foliage throughout.
This finely decorated French porcelain urn would be a wonderful accessory for any room.
