Description: Large,decorative magnificent and rare coal hod with lid from France 19th century. The oval hod in black has large hand painted blue and gold toleware motif to resemble tile surrounding the lid with bronze twisted handle,floral motif beside and corresponding smaller tile design on the bucket itself with upper and lower banding. Highly decorative handles on either side and feet which give a delicate accent. Both metal lid and container in excellent condition with only minor spots of lost black background paint. A wonderful size for storage of firewood,kindling yet stunning atop a buffet or chest or filled with a dried bouquet. Spacious storage area.Measures 23L X 20H X 15D.
