Description:
A stunning pair of Art Deco 18K white gold earrings set with diamonds and featuring amethyst drops. The surmounts are round amethyst cabochons simply set in white gold millegrained collets. They suspend a line of round brilliant cut diamonds interrupted by a circle set with diamonds. The earrings terminate in large oval amethyst cabochons, each weighing just over 6.5 carats. Each of the elements is fully articulated so the earrings have a lot of movement. The amethysts are of very fine quality, with dark, intensely saturated slightly reddish-purple color. The diamonds are likewise of excellent quality, estimated at G color, VS clarity. Amethysts were not commonly used in Art Deco jewelry, so these earrings are quite unusual. The posts are extra-long have have press-in clutches. The earrings are stamped with the French “tete d’aigle” hallmark for 18K. Origin: France, ca. 1925. Condition: excellent. Size: 2-16” long. Weight: 10.2 grams. Approximate Total Gemstone Weight: diamond, 1.0 ct; amethyst, 15.8 cts.
