Description:
Handmade in France around 1870, this gorgeous antique oak bookcase represents the finest in French craftsmanship. Crafted from solid oak, the strength of this bookcase is certainly quite impressive, which helps to explain why it remains in such great condition after over a century since its construction. This piece is also as gorgeous as it is sturdy, with a lovely patina and a rich oak complexion that look especially striking as they appear in the intricately carved door panels, carved edging and barley twist columns. The break front design of the bookcase also looks quite appealing, making this piece a site to behold. In addition to being quite beautiful and sturdy, this bookcase also offers plenty of storage space for your books and other items. With a total of two drawers and four shelves--three of them adjustable and one inside the lower cabinet--there is plenty of shelf space. The lock on the upper doors no longer functions well and the lock on the drawers does not function at all, although the lock on the lower cabinet doors does function. This piece has also sustained some surface wear and developed a separation between the boards in the counter, but overall remains in very good condition for its age.
