Description:
Awesome early earthenware stirrup cup in the form of a fox head. Now I will say that I don’t know who the maker is, but I do know it is an early one & of the ultimate form it appears to have salt glaze & the art work in the enameling is totally superb! The condition is not the greatest , it has several hairlines & both ears are chipped& there are a few more glaze flakes on the body .Even thought the condition of this stirrup cup could be considered poor , I simply had top have it because I believe it is a very rare example & I know that if I were a collector of these cups I would have to have this because it is such a fine example .It measures 5 ¼” long x 4 ¼” across the ears x 2 ¾” diameter of the opening .Again not in the best condition , but a superb example for the collection until a perfect one comes along!
