Description: For sale is this very unusual piece of art pottery. Etched on the bottom is the date of 1904. I think this is called a grotesque, as the cup or mug has a distorted face of either a dog or monkey. There are one or two rough spots in the rim, which do nothing to take away from the overall look of the piece. Glaze is just excellent with natural crackling with age. I just love the expression on the face and all the hand made, three dimensional details. Inside glaze is a wonderful sea green color. Measures approx. 3 1/2" h x 4" w.
