Description: Unusual gilt and red Florentine 3 drawer bombe chest C.1880-85 from Italy. Small amounts of the aged green undercoat shows through on the top,only seen on old Florentine. Beautiful large center design in red and cream on top,three drawers and each side. Tooled gilt foliate shell garland surrounds the outer edges of all sides and drawers. Brass rosette knobs. Stands on short cabriole legs with escargot feet. Wonderful size for side table,bath or focal point with a mirror or oil above. The small bits of worn gilt add to the aged,beautiful patina and act as an accent. Construction excellent condition. Measures 25H X 24L X 14.75D.
