Description:
Here is a very difficult to find kitchen collectible a Stuart Peterson & Co. flop griddle in Excellent Condition. The Stuart Peterson Company was one of the largest stove and hollow ware manufacturers during the mid to late 1800’s. This is one of the more interesting kitchen items that the company produced and you never see these being used any more. When placed on the top of a wood or coal burning range the entire griddle would be heated. Batter would be poured in the 3 circular pans in the lid and allowed to cook half way - at that point the lid would flipped and the bottoms of the cakes would be cooked and more batter could be poured into the top. This specimen is free of any cracks or chips and has a very attractive old cast iron patina. The griddle is 17 1/8” wide and 10 ½” deep. Each of the cake molds has a diameter of 4 ½” and the griddle stands 1 ¾” in height. This specimen would be a fabulous addition to any cast iron or kitchen utensil collection.
