Description:
Here is quite the spectacular carved wood and polychrome standing floor lamp. To me it looks like it is encumbering several different eras in time. There are some gothic designs as you can see on the upper post and some more classical designs at the bottom. The carving is very very good it is mellow yet crisp. The flow and movement of the lamp is extremely pleasing. The colors are muted gold with kind of a dark teal green on the upper portion. Over all it is in very good condition – there are little bits of gold gilt flakes here and there that have probably come off through the years. But all in all the lamp is in totally presentable condition and very unique in style. It has a three socket top with pull chains ending in a ball. It appears to have early 1900’s old rayon silk wiring which looks pretty well – it looks like it needs to be rewired but then again you could rewire it if you want. The shade is a hand made shade that is not original to the lamp but it works well for display purposes. I can see that this lamp deserves and would look spectacular with a hand painted paper shade in similar colors. Overall the lamp is very Italianesque and stunning and once again the condition is really very good. It measures 71”h with the diameter of the base approximately 15” and the diameter of the shade 20 ¼”.
