Description:
This 800(ducatin) silver souvenir spoon dates to the turn of the 20th Century with a view of the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence or Palazzo della Signoria. This palace was completed in 1322. The tower of Palazzo Vecchio, 94 m. high, was built by Arnolfo di Cambio in 1299, along with the palace itself. It is probably supported by an even more antique tower called torre de Foraboschi. The Palazzo Vecchio was the residence of the Signoria during the 15th Century and later was modified by Vasari, when, in 1540, Cosimo I de Medici moved into the palace with his family.
This popular tourist destination is captured on the 800 silver spoon in enamel as it appeared at the turn of the 20th century. The enamel is bright teal around the portrait of the Palazzo Vecchio complete with pedestrians! The bowl and handle are gilded with the gilding still in place. The spoon bowl is a shell-shape on the reverse and is simply beautiful.
