Description:
Prior to 1899 when it merged with the Wernicke Company and became Globe Wernicke, the Globe Files Company was well known for its many pieces produced for the well outfitted office. Coming to us from the Midwest this very nice Globe step-back filing cabinet has a variety of files. Sitting on the base is a 25" depth letter filing drawer. Above it the unit "steps back" to a 17" depth where there are 4 3X5 card file drawers. Above that 2 large card files are combined with a small door that opens for additional storage. It's a breakdown unit that can be added to or reduced. The motto of this company, "Always complete, never finished" is reflective of this piece. It's certainly a usable storage unit with its variety of sizes of drawers. This set has been professionally restored and refinished.
