Description:
Fenton Carnival Glass Bowl made with the old formula in the Old Northwood Hearts and Flowers Pattern. The original Hearts and Flowers pattern made by Northwood, although very intricate, was one of Northwood's best designs and has been faithfully reproduced by the Fenton Glass Co. Following the success of his student, Frank L. Fenton, in the iridized glass field, Harry Northwood marketed his first Northwood iridescent glass. Originally produced in the early 1900's utilizing the Fenton process of iridization, Northwood created their own formula for Carnival Glass. From about 1908 til the death of Harry Northwood in 1919, Carnival glass was the great American "craze". Carnival glass was considered the "poor man's" Tiffany. Fenton Glass Co. pioneered in the process of iridization which took the mass-scale art glass field by storm and "Carnival Glass" was born.
