Description:
The original dial on this uncommon mantle clock has the following words printed on it: TERRY CLOCK COMPANY SOLE MANUFACTURERS; PAT. SEPT. 26TH 1882 PAT. MARCH 20TH 1883. LUMINOUS. Now, its anyone's guess what they meant by LUMINOUS?? But that mysterious notation on the dial surely adds to the charm of this nice clock. The beat scale inside the case (see photograph) bears the name TERRY CLOCK COMPANY PITTSFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS USA. All of the components of this nice clock are identical to the original Terry catalogue picture. This is the second clock we've added to our inventory this week made by the Terry Clock Company in Pittsfield. You don't see that many of them because this company only existed from about 1868 to 1880 after being organized by George Bliss and the sons of Silas Burnham Terry. It's a very nice example of a solid and handsome mantle clock from the descendants of the famed Terry clockmaking family.
