Description:
This is one of the most unusual and stunning lamps we've ever seen. Conversions of oil lamps are usually Victorian and quite ornate. However, this one is an art deco conversion. It has a brilliant silhouette, with the oil receptacle resting on slim legs and an elongated bulb socket holder. It is capped with a cased glass shade that enhances the silhouette. This brilliant lamp would be an exceptional addition to both art deco and mid-century modernist decor. Age (ca) c1920s Dimensions 10" wide X 10 " deep X 34" High Condition Good condition. The plug was removed (cannot imagine why) so the wiring (which appears good) will need attention. T are metal spokes in the center and t originally may have been more. But cosmetically it is in excellent condition with no dings or dents and no damage to the glass shade. Provenance This item is from a lovely old sprawling waterfront Victorian home on Long Island's north shore. Overlooking one of Long Island's exquisite deep water harbors, the serenity of the view from this home was only rivaled by their treasures inside ... from American and English 18th and 19th century antiques to French Country to Arts & Crafts items, this huge 12 room home had it all! The pieces from this estate are "fresh" to the market, having just come from the home of its owners for a generation or more.
