Description:
This Early Meiji Period c.1880 'Saka-bin' antique Japanese Sake Jug comes from the Famous Ito Sake Brewery in Oguchi-mura (village) in Shigaraki, a famous ceramic center in old Japan. Written in Bold Blue Kanji or Japanese characters on the bottle in blue natural dyes are the words, "ITO SAKE BREWERY", OGUCHI MURA & the 24th EDITION" meaning this jug was the 24th bottle capped out of a sake batch brewed at the brewery. For old sake jugs this is in excellent shape with no cracks or chips. For collectors, this piece is a must. c.1880. (15" x 8") (39cm x 20cm). EMS Shipping/Insurance to USA or Western Europe $85.
