Description:
This pair of cast bronze sconces is lovely. Stemming from the square shaped back plate of these sconces, which features a floret style button surrounded by vine embossing and a curled outer band, is an elegant cameo featuring a gorgeous feminine profile. The cameo is surrounded by a beaded frame, and accented with palmettes and leafy details. Protruding from out from between these sconces two arms, and starting on an octagonal mount, one will find a series of anthemion set above the plate in a unique way that is similar to a roof boss. The back plate as well as each of the bobeches is finished with foliated finials. One sconce has been notched out behind the bottom finial– probably to make room for wire. This is unnoticeable when the sconces are hung (see last two images), but forces us to mark these wall lamps in very good antique condition; otherwise, they would be considered excellent. They have been professionally rewired, and come with all the necessary attachments for modern installation. These are 9 ˝” long, 9” wide and protrude 3 ˝” from the wall.
