Very large Famille Rose Chinese export porcelain charger c1850 to 1860. Extraordinary detail, superbly painted. This is one of the finest pieces of antique Famille Rose Medallion that we have ever offered. The charger is 19 inches across by 3 and one quarter inches high. Each of its 6 medallions is framed by dragons and bats carrying scrolls. Three are scenes of court ladies at leisure. Three are studies of birds and butterflies amid branches of peonies and fruits, including citrus, persimmons and pomegranites. The center roundel features a giant fungus. There is a faint old star fracture at center underside, probably incurred at firing. Strong ring tone when tapped. No chips. Shipping extra.
