Description: Fabulous pair of 19th C. Walnut Victorian sofas by John Jelliff. These sofas have great style with deatiled crests and carved heads on each arm. John Jelliff pieces, which are to be found in most major museum collections, are highly sought after. He was one of the most important cabinet makers in the 19th C. His Newerk, New Jersey workshop produced fine furnature from 1843-1890 and is best known for Renaissance Gothic Revival parlour funtiture. The female head on his furniture reflects the Goddess-like face of Jenny Lind, the opera star who P.T. Barnum introduced to this country around 1850. These chairshave nicely carved crests and female figures on each arm. Price includes restoration C.O.M.
