One of the many books from the Estate of Francis P. Fretwell that we will be selling. The library is the largest privately owned collection of dog books in the world. Mr. Fretwell was the owner of Monfret Kennels, which bred champion standard poodles. He was former president and governor of the Poodle Club of America, and the Italian Greyhound Club of America. A constructive, independent inner and outer world developed despite blindness through courage, hard work and a dog. The story of Hector Chevigny, a radio script writer, who was suddenly struck blind in a fall. When his sight failed to return, he began training at Seeing Eye in New Jersey with Wizard, the boxer who came to share his life. Jacket is quite worn, with large losses. Boards have light shelf wear. Mr. Fretwell's bp on front fixed endpaper. Book and jacket have notations and marking in pen, throughout. Good condition.
