Description:
This creation has to be seen to be believed. Measuring 4 3/8" high, it was, the former owner advised me, created by Wendy for a Vogue cover shoot in 1986. Bugle beads, black sequins, rhinestones (all clear and in place), and a large aurora-borealis glass centerpiece were all hand-applied to a big brass cuff. It is hard to read at this point in time, but at the back, near the middle, it is engraved "Wendy," lest there could be any doubt who created this lollapalooza! The inside opening is 2 1/4" across. Also, this bracelet is open-backed, with the open portion measuring approx. 1 1/2" across.
Okay, now it is time to lay all our cards on the table. There are some signs of wear to this unique collectible. The big bow centerpiece has an outline in silvery-clear bugle beads, accented by burnished-goldentone beads, and some of these two kinds of beads have gone missing as a result of time. (Please see last photo.) Additionally, there is some minor scratching to the big glass cabochon at the center, as is often the case with this sort of stone.
And, finally...this is a diva, red-carpet, maybe-better-off-on-display accessory. I have an average-sized wrist, but it takes a bit of effort to put this piece on and, frankly, it is not comfortable to wear for very long. While this is still a magnificent example of Wendy's artistry at its zenith, for the above-mentioned reasons, we are listing this wristy with reasonable offers being accepted and welcomed.
