Description: EXCEPTIONAL PHILADELPHIA EMPIRE ANTHONY QUERVELLE SIDEBOARD Attributed to Quervelle with confidence Anthony Quervelle was well known for his masterful creations and sideboards are among his most treasured masterpieces. His creations were widely favored and attracted notable clientele such as President Andrew Jackson and today his pieces are in several MUSEUMS including The Munson-Williams-Procter Institute Museum of Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Winterthur Museum. This magnificent unlabled sideboard has all the characteristics of an Anthony Gabriel Quervelle masterpiece including the central beveled mirror flanked by full flame mahogany columns, the luxuriously appointed cornucopias, the drop center marble top work surface, the original cut glass drawer pulls, the curved storage compartment dooors, the absolutely stunning raised flame mahogany diamonds on the center doors, the four full flame mahogany columns with ornately carved Cornithian Capitals, the gadrooned divider above the central doors and below the two center drawers, the rounded fronts on the three larger drawers, the Lazy Susan, for wine bottles, in the right hand storage compartment, and all raised on finely carved decorative feet and original casters. This Breathtaking Anthony Quervelle Mahogany and Flame Mahogany Sideboard, circa 1825 is a Philadelphia Masterpiece presented to you with an original beveled mirror, original, clean, marble top, original hardware, and restored finish. Minor age splits were addressed along with two small areas of missing veneer. It is now in near perfect, move in condition.
