Description: The sight of this immigrant’s trunk gives you goose bumps. It suddenly makes you wonder, who did this belong to? Who made this trunk with so much detail, with so much love? This heavy dome top trunk is in amazing condition. The surface retains nearly all of its original salmon color and it is embellished with hand-forged iron decorative strapping having very large handles on each side. I believe this trunk was made in the 1700’s and then as the painting and date on the front suggests, it was given or used as a wedding or dowry chest in 1851. This trunk truly is a rare find. 42 ½” wide x 22” high x 22” deep.
