Description:
Well listed mid century American artist Eugene (Gene) Baguskas painting. Oil on canvas housed in original thin mahogany frame, 20x30". Label on stretcher reads Worcester area exhibition 1960, titled "Agreement", sale price no sale. I assume this meant the painting was not for sale as it was recently purchased from a local estate filled with art. According to the former owner this was a gift from Baguskas himself. Rich colors fill this canvas with reds & greens dominating the painting. It is signed in lower center. A great piece of mid century original art from an artist who has nice listings in Davenports, who was who american art 1564-1975 and other publications. Eugene Baguskas was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, in 1933. He attended the School of the Worcester Art Museum and received his B.F.A. from the Yale University School of Art and Architecture in 1962. Currently, he is an associate professor of painting and drawing at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia.
